2 pm – 11 pm; $35
One of our most popular tours takes to the field mid-afternoon to observe nesting or soaring Bald and Golden eagles, falcons, hawks, and owls before returning to Cortez for a supper break on your own. Following the evening presentation about cavity nesters, head out again – this time listening for and possibly sighting Barn, Great Horned, Flammulated, Burrowing, Long-eared, Northern Saw-Whet, and Western Screech owls. (25 species, 2013) Easy.

Martin Moses, Private Lands Wildlife Biologist, NRCS Durango Field Office

6:15 pm – 7:15 pm
Martin’s presentation focuses on land management strategies that can enhance habitat for a variety of woodpecker species and other cavity dwellers (avian and other). Learn how surrounding habitat conditions can influence the use of available cavities.
