Spirit Coalescent at the Sunflower Theater April 30, 2022
The Spirit Coalescent is a multimedia jazz ensemble performance that brings audiences along on a visual and auditory journey of strength and resilience through landscape art and musical expression. The program follows Pakoota’s own deeply personal story of loss, struggle, survival and rebirth, juxtaposed with his poetry evoking universal themes of creativity and the cycles of life found throughout nature.
Pakoota’s original poems are set to original scores composed by Anderson, Lucero and McCluhan to accompany each work. Each poem is inspired by the visual landscapes created by Ellsbury and Hazen. Those images serve as the backdrop that unifies, or coalesces, into a cohesive and powerful program about recovery and healing.
